The Steamboat night life scene is ideal for those look for casual, local beers, live music (usually country or bluegrass) and quiet cocktails. If you’re looking for late night dance party options, you may not find too many in Steamboat. But then again, you want to be in bed on the earlier side so you can take advantage of Steamboat’s incredible champagne powder.
The majority of Steamboat night life sways towards the pub scene. Many of Steamboat’s pubs, grills and breweries become late night, casual hot spots to get local drafts and strong cocktails. Popular establishments like Mahogany Ridge Brewery and Grill, The Tugboat and The Boathouse Pub transform from low-key, reasonably priced lunch and dinner joints to hopping bar scenes, complete with live music. The Mahogany Ridge Brewery, Steamboat’s local brewery, features seven handmade brews. The brewery is a great option for an après beer or an early evening brew.
If late night adventures are on your radar, then head to The Tugboat, a locals hangout, or The Ghost Ranch, which offers live music and entertainment from large national gigs to local bands Thursday through Sunday night.
Après ski drinks and eats usually make for a more rowdy scene than late night endeavors, so be sure to partake in this Steamboat tradition. There’s no shortage of Western pubs in Steamboat. Carl’s Tavern, on TK, for instance offers great eats, a fun atmosphere, creative cocktails and a great happy hour from four to six p.m. daily. Be sure to try one of the rustic-inspired cocktails, which incorporate local ingredients and liquors, like The Flying Norseman, Carl’s Old-Fashioned or Carl’s Cider.
