Aspen Snowmass is the place to be from the end of February until closing day in April. March brings the 17th annual Bud Light Spring Jam with a host of free concerts, competitions and clinics on all four mountains. Here is a rundown of some of the fun happening this spring:
Audi Power of Four Ski Mountaineering
This race series on February 25 is designed to test the limits, skills and endurance of both elite and recreational athletes as they race across all four area mountains, covering 24 miles and more than 10,000 vertical feet.
Après Ski Cocktail Classic
Join in the slopeside cocktail experience in Aspen March 9–12 based at the Little Nell and featuring a Grand Tasting Village and Private Reserve Room of high marque spirits, artisanal craft cocktails, seminars by award-winning mixologists, snow parties, pop-up bars, fireside chats and The Great Après Ski Pub Crawl.
Bud Light Hi-Fi Concerts
The highly anticipated free spring concert series returns March 16 during the 2017 Audi FIS World Cup Finals. Bands hitting the stage include indie-progressive rock band Moon Taxi on March 25 and the blending of funk, soul and rock n’ roll with The Main Squeeze on April 8.
Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals
From March 15–19, Aspen Snowmass hosts the prestigious Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals. World Cup titles will be given out to male and female skiers who received the most points during the entirety of the Audi FIS World Cup, stretching back to October, in each of the four disciples: Downhill, Super G, Giant Slalom and Slalom. The finals will be the first outside Europe since 1997.
Bud Light Big Rail Fridays
Featuring new, urban-style features, this weekly park competition is open to anyone with a taste for jibbing through March 31. The fun starts at 2 p.m. at upper Fanny Hill on Snowmass and is followed by Little Jibs, a kids’ competition with kid-size features.
Terrain Park Boot Camp
On Fridays at 2 p.m., park skiers and snowboarders of all levels are invited to participate in a friendly, free urban-inspired competition on Snowmass' upper Fanny Hill. 2017 dates for these boot camps will be announced soon.
Check out–or compete in–the third-annual Banked Slalom snowboarding race at Snowmass’ Sandy Park on April 1. Registration and practice starts at 8:30 a.m. before the competition commences at 10 a.m.
April 9th markets the 9th annual Schneetag (German for "snow day") event. Put simply, teams of four will create a craft that will pilot them down a ski slope and attempt to float across at 20x40 foot pond. This event is just as ridiculous and entertaining as it sounds!
